How we handle your information
What we hold, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Version v2.4 · 30 September 2026
What we hold
What you tell us, and we use it to help with your medical aid and gap cover enquiry.
Some of it is health information — conditions you're treated for, procedures you're planning. We process that only with your consent, and only where it changes which plan suits you.
Answering is voluntary. Leave anything out and the comparison still runs — it's just less accurate, and we'll say so on screen.
Who sees it
We don't sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- Silverhurst and Approach Administration — the people who would advise you.
- Our technology providers, who work on our instruction and can't use it for their own purposes. That includes Meta, which delivers the WhatsApp message — it goes through servers outside South Africa, and only your number and first name are needed to send it.
- A scheme or insurer — only if you ask us to apply, and only what the application needs.
- A regulator, ombud or court, where the law requires it.
Comparing plans tells the schemes nothing about you.
Counting visits
On our public information pages we use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, and how people found us. It uses cookies and sees your browser and rough location, not your name or anything you type.
It is switched off inside the check itself. The conversation, the whiteboard and anything you enter never reach Google.
How long we keep it
- You compared and left — we keep the enquiry for five years, the same as a financial services record, then delete it.
- We advised you — financial services law requires the record to be kept for five years.
- The audit trail of what you were shown can't be edited or deleted by anyone, including us. It goes when the record it belongs to goes.
Keeping it safe
- Your browser never holds a key to our database. Your enquiry is sent to our server and written there.
- We check your number every session, and never remember that you passed.
- Access is restricted to the people who need it, and it's logged.
- Information travels encrypted.
If your information is ever accessed by someone who shouldn't have it, we'll tell you and the Information Regulator.
What you can ask us to do
One limit, so it isn't a surprise later. Where the law requires us to keep a record — advice we gave you, or the audit trail — that record stays until its retention period ends. Everything else we delete on request, and we'll tell you if there's a part we can't do.
Ask us at hello@silverhurstwealth.co.za. We'll come back within 20 days.
