First registered in 1968 as the Anglo American Corporation Medical Scheme, it was renamed Anglo Medical Scheme in 2005. Membership is "by appointment only" — exclusively available to employees of Anglo American and associated participating employer groups, plus their dependants.

How the Scheme Is Set Up
Anglo Medical Scheme is structurally suited only to employees of Anglo American and associated participating employers, by appointment. Within that population, plan choice tracks income band, dependant count and expected utilisation.
Eligibility & Continuation
Who can join: Employees of Anglo American and its associated/participating employer groups, plus qualifying dependants. Membership is "by appointment only" — confirm eligibility with the Scheme directly.
On leaving the employer: Continuation member rules apply for retirees. Non-retiring leavers generally need to transfer to another scheme.
Dependants: Remain on AMS while the principal member is enrolled. Continuation rules govern surviving-spouse and child cover.
