Resolution Health Medical Scheme

No longer operating as a standalone scheme · Amalgamated with Spectramed (2018) → Health Squared (liquidated Feb 2023)

Overview

Resolution Health Medical Scheme was an open medical scheme registered on 9 April 1998 that began trading in 2000. In 2018, Resolution Health amalgamated with Spectramed Medical Fund to form Health Squared Medical Scheme. Health Squared was placed in final liquidation by the High Court in Johannesburg on 17 February 2023, after its statutory solvency ratio collapsed to 2.15% by July 2022, driven by Covid-19 claims pressure and member loss. The Council for Medical Schemes coordinated migration of Health Squared members to other open schemes.

If you were a former Resolution Health or Health Squared member

The Council for Medical Schemes migrated former Health Squared members to other open schemes following the liquidation. If you have not changed schemes since 2023, you should already be enrolled with a successor scheme. Member medical savings claims rank as concurrent (unsecured) in the liquidation process.
